New York Office Furniture - Increasing Productivity with the Right Chair
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
As you start thinking about putting together your new offices, it is important to consider how much space you have and how much each worker will need to complete their daily assignments successfully. After that square footage has been determined, it would be a good idea to figure out which of your existing furniture is worth keeping.
For starters, it is a good idea to get rid of any office chairs that are more than two years old. Purchasing a high quality chair is one of the best investments you can ever make for your business! Your Return On Investment is huge compared to the amount of money you spend on purchasing a good office chair.
What use to be normal eight hour workdays are now becoming more like ten hour workdays! How many hours are you actually in your office and sitting in your office chair? When you think about it, a lot of us don't even get to stay in ours bed for that long. What is a good night sleep worth to you and could you honestly only spend $300 on a bed? No way! Whether you know it or not, whatever you are sitting in or sleeping on has a gigantic impact on your productivity at work.
In my experience,I have found that the difference between a top notch chair and the mediocre chairs found on many shopping websites are enormously significant. We have a quote in this business, Yes we have a cheap chair for your cheap Ass! Cheap chairs are a pain in the butt, why even bother with them?
So maybe I have become a bit spoiled, but in over 25 years in this business I have never sat in a single inexpensive office chair that was good and comfortable. A real good chair is soo comfy that it simply feels as if it were part of you and allows you to focus on the important stuff... your work. On the other hand, an inexpensive chair is far from comfortable and simply reminds you how long your never ending workday appears to be.
I have seen so many people sitting on chairs that are practically falling apart. How they try to balance themselves while attempting to put together a spread sheet for a presentation boggles my mind. How many people have you seen with chair "pillows" on the backs of their office chairs? This is just an attempt to add some lumbar support to their crappy chairs they have been unfortunate to get.
Do the correct thing and find a chair for your employees that won't break the budget but gives you great value for the money spent. A quality office task chair will come with adjustable arms, pneumatic height adjustment chair lift, locking tilt mechanism, adjustable back height with lumbar support, and at least a seven year warranty. A really good office chair can last you even ten years & is an investment worth every penny.
Optimizing your employee's productivity is essential, so don't disregard the importance of matching the right chair to the right person. If your employees are comfortable, they will enjoy what they are doing more and therefore become more productive workers.
