Essential Warehouse Supplies Safety Products

Safety is of paramount importance in the warehouse. This is why, out of the thousands of warehouse supplies a company will have to sell, all of those that pose any potential safety risk have to comply with OSHA safety standards and many of their products will specifically be safety products.
One of the most obvious examples of a product that must be stored and handled with the utmost care is the LPG cylinder. A variety of products are available that facilitate the safe storage and handling of gas cylinders. The most basic of these is the wall mounted stationary cylinder holder. In outdoor locations where theft and vandalism pose a threat, aluminum mesh walled cylinder lockers are the ideal storage device for LPG gas cylinders.
Of course, in a large warehouse, your LPG gas cylinders will need to be moved frequently for a variety of reasons. Double welded forklift pallets are ideal for convenient and safe transport of gas cylinders. These pallets keep individual cylinders firmly in place, yet allow easy removal of single cylinders as they are needed. Depending on your needs, these orange enameled cylinder pallets come in several sizes to hold four, six or eight cylinders.
No warehouse should be without an adequate supply of fire extinguishers. The ideal fire extinguisher contains mono-ammonium phosphate, a chemical that can put out any of the three types of fires. These come in a variety of sizes and are painted bright red for visibility. They should be within easy reach from any area of the warehouse where there is even the remotest chance of fire.
In most emergency situations, the power supply is cut before anything else. This poses a significant safety hazard. As a precautionary measure, emergency lights that recharge themselves and automatically turn on when the power supply cuts out, are a must. When placed near exits and in areas where they can illluminate exit corridors and potential danger spots, these inexpensive emergency lights can literally be life savers.
Emergency signs are also indispensable in the warehouse. These include exit signs, elevated signs that point alert staff to the fire extinguishers and other signs need to be highly visible both in well-illuminated areas and in pitch darkness. Self-activated and self-charging glow-in-the-dark signs can retain their illuminosity for up to eight hours, even in the absence of a light source.
Among the other essential safety warehouse supplies are a variety of wearing apparel. Hard hats, protective clothing, dust and particle face masks and protective gloves are just some of the items that must be available for use as needed.
In addition to these and other products designed strictly for safety, any other equipment in the warehouse that can conceivably pose a safety threat must also comply with OSHA safety requirements. The wire cage that protects the forklift operator is required by law, for example. Many of the best manufacturers will include safety features in their equipment that exceed OSHA standards.
While most warehouse owners and managers will be aware of most safety regulations, they will probably not be aware of all of them. They rely on the expertise of the company that sells them their warehouse supplies to help them comply with or exceed the minimum OSHA requirements for warehouse safety.
