Lots and Lots of us grew up with a number of ride on toys in the garden or in the street. It's highly likely that one of those toys was a scooter of some sort. There have been many hours spent by children over the years riding back and fore on them picking up bumps and bloody knees on the way. The micros scooters are now doing it where the older version left long ago.
Back near the end of the nineties there was a man from Switzerland named Wim Ouboter that instigated the scooters rebirth with a modern design. Soon, children everywhere were learning about the fun to be had on two wheels just like their parents had years before them. In no time at all the new design was all over Europe and it even made it to the states where it was called the 'Razor'.
The new interest in the scooter has not been just a kids thing as adults have been given their own model to get back to their youth. With much a stronger product an adult can have as much fun as their little ones without worrying about damaging their ride. It's lucky that there are plenty of safety accessories to go with it as the ground seems to hurt more as you grow.
There are helmets, knee and elbow pads that surely prevent a huge number accidents becoming more serious than they need to be. These safety accessories are a good precaution but overall, these scooters are a relatively safe product. The danger comes when the limits of the products capability is tested which is always going to happen.
You only have to look online for a video of people performing amazing stunts with scooters in the X-Games to realize the limits of scooters. Many a daredevil has had their mettle tested by these two wheeled speed machines. The reason they are so easy to ride and perform stunts with is because of their lightweight design.
There are a multitude of other reasons why they have suddenly taken off again but getting two top awards must have helped. In 2009 the Silver award was received for it's help in improving hand to eye coordination, fine motor skills and gross motor skills by Right Start magazine. Also The Good Toy Guide awarded it the Gold award for best overall toy of the year. With all that in the press there is no wonder it was the number one gift for celebrity's kids.
Many celebrities have been photographed with their children that when they are playing on these scooters. That could possibly have sparked more of an interest in them and would normally boost sales. That as well articles in places like The Brand magazine stating such things as 'Fitness by Christmas'. In fact, this scooter has made it on the cover of more magazines in the last few years than your average catwalk model.
To Sum it up, the micros scooter should have a place in everyone's childhood but what is important to remember is that there's a child in everyone. If you are thinking of getting one for a little one then you should also get your own to show them how it's done.
