“Follow the entrepreneur, not just the idea” that’s the advice from Internationally Acclaimed Motivational Speaker and Best Selling Author Kevin Kelly to development agencies worldwide.
“Too often the entrepreneur is turned away from the door on the basis of a poor idea. The fact is a potential entrepreneur with passion underpinned by positive intent will sooner or later find or attract a commercial idea. This is why a support structure should be in place to nurture this potential,” argues Kelly.
“Research from Columbia University which highlighted the fact that 88% of break through companies were the result of “exceptional execution of an ordinary idea” should inspire would be entrepreneurs to microscopically look at existing businesses around them and ponder how these could be brought to a different level,” claims Kelly.
“An abundance of good ideas out there exist for those who want to explore the entrepreneurial route,” he added.
Kelly’s advice comes on the back of new research from the Eurobarometer
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/sme/facts-figures-analysis/eurobarometer/index_en.htm which showed the number of Irish people who would like to be self-employed has fallen from 63% to 49% in the last 10 years.
“In my humble opinion, I believe we need to look seriously at self employment as the most viable route into the future. With the advent of the internet, the chances of an entrepreneur with the right idea making a living has definitely been enhanced,” concluded Kelly.
Kelly’s new book “Basics before Buzz – managing in challenging times” has just hit the shelves. The book is a follow on to his best selling publications “How? When you don’t know how” and “Life- a trip towards Trust.” Over the past two decades, he has been recruited as a motivational keynote speaker for events in the Far and Middle East, Europe and The US including most recently the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table event in Korea.
