I was planning my move from Key Largo, Florida to San Diego, Califonia two months ago. I have a 4 bedroom home with lots of stuff, and two cars so I couldn't drive both cars.
I knew I would have to get a car carrier as well as movers so I started looking on the internet for a moving company that also moved cars. Once I had called quite a few companies and found 4 that did long distance moves and transported cars, I started to look for moving coupons and discounts.
To my surprise there weren't alot of moving coupons and discounts listed on the web. Mainly I would just find a website that would lead me to another website, and so on.... This was a little annoying after awhile. I did find a site called Groupon which you sign up for and they send you daily emails with random coupons and one of them was actually for a moving company that was in my area, but they didn't do car transportation.
So I decided to call the moving companies on my list and ask the salespeople if they new of any websites that I could find moving coupons and discounts. To be honest most of them were not helpful, which I could understand because they do work off commission, and my moving coupons and discounts means less for them. I found a website called movingcoupons.com and you would think with a name like that, they would certainly have moving coupons and discounts. Nope, they were just a company that wants to get all of your information and sell it to moving companies so they can call you and book your move. There was another website EZmoving and storage, they actually had printable coupons on their website, but guess what, they are only for moves in Michigan. That was obviously no help.
It was very frustrating searching and searching for moving coupons and discounts, but I really needed something to help me save money on this move. I knew it was going to cost me a fortune. So take my advice and instead of spending hours searching the internet for moving coupons and discounts, just call 3 or 4 reputable companies and ask them if they have any promotions that you can take advantage of. It never hurts to ask. Also, if you don't get anywhere with that, you can always ask to speak to the sales manager and see if he can work with you on the price. As incentive to him to give you the discount, tell him that you will give out his business cards to your friends, family and co-workers.
