The purists have always debated the question on whether you should be able to make any money from blogging. They claim that it compromises the content. But on the other side, some bloggers defend their right to make a living from their blogs. But the true argument should really concerned with whether you can Make Money Blogging or not.
There are a lot of people who have tried and failed to earn an income from their blog. This is because they have been led to believe that they can run their blog on autopilot. This might be possible once you have built a strong reputation, but for the beginner, it is highly unlikely. This means that you do have to put some effort into it. It is not just a matter putting adverts all over the page, and then just pasting some content in the middle.
Yes of course you need advertising on the blog to get some income, but it is no good to anybody, if you do not have any visitors to either click on the adverts, or buy the products. On the advertising side of making money, yet again people are very lazy. They will get themselves some adsense blocks and put those around the page, and maybe also some affiliate adverts that are related to the general theme of the blog.
But first of all you need blog traffic. If you do not want to spend any money advertising that you exist, you have got to write excellent, and interesting, articles on topics that will draw people in. So how do you get your blog noticed, one of the most powerful ways is if you find any news that relates to the genre that the blog is about, traffic will start to arrive, and everybody loves breaking news.
So you have a plan on how to get people to visit your site, now all you need to set up a plan to get them to make you money. There are numerous ways you can do that. But the simplest way of all, for a beginner, is Google adsense. And this is followed closely by affiliate marketing. And affiliate marketing does not just cover the books that you can download from the Internet, it also relates to advertising from companies like Amazon, and also hotels and vacations.
Adsense, as was mentioned earlier, is the easiest way to start. And it is easy to set up. And you will get a token income from the people who do click through the adverts. But there is a way to get these adverts to be more profitable. But first you must understand how adsense works, and why those adverts are on your site.
The Google adverts you see on a page are content sensitive. That means they relate to the keywords or phrases used in the content. The people who have paid Google to place these adverts on the relevant pages, have paid to use certain words or phrases. And some of these cost more than others. If these words appear in the content, then their advert is displayed, and you will receive a percentage of that fee if somebody clicks on it.
The way to increase your income from your adsense blocks is to find the keywords and key phrases that people pay the most for. When you have done that, you work them into the content of your page. Or place them as one of the tags for your page. But you must ensure that the keywords and phrases you have chosen are actually relevant to the content. And you also have to find a happy balance between the words and phrases that will increase the money you get, with the words and phrases that will attract the most visitors.
