Both sites have something called tag pages, and this technique is based around those pages. If you are not familiar with what they are, you can go to either site, take a look at any page, and you'll see tags quite clearly. A tag page has a list of all the HubPages hubs or Squidoo lenses that use that tag.
A tag is more commonly known as a keyword or search term which can be used to describe what a lens or hub page is about. After testing this on Squidoo, I tested this on HubPages several weeks later and in each case, a large amount of traffic was generated, and this in turn generated sales for my affiliate products.
Tag pages on HubPages and Squidoo can be quite highly ranked with Google, in fact some are even Google Page Rank 6, and can also appear on the front page of Google for that keyword. Adding those pages which are found on the tag pages to your lens or hub greatly increases your exposure, and gives you a good chance of also being shown on those tag pages so you can generate some good traffic quite quickly.
This is an quick and easy way to get free traffic to your hub or lens quickly. This really is powerful as you can get your page to appear on the first page of that specific Tag Page. If there aren't many listings on HubPages or Squidoo for your keyword, then you can get even more traffic.
